> Swan Brewing is a craft brewery, taproom, live music venue, and community gathering spot at 115 W. Pine St. in downtown Lakeland, Florida. It opened April 20, 2018 in a 1940s auto repair shop on the shore of Lake Wire. The space is 3,900 square feet with a 25-foot bar built from a salvaged bowling alley lane, sealed concrete floors carrying 80 years of patina, a glass window into the working brewery, and a 13x13-foot roll-up glass door opening to a covered outdoor patio overlooking Lake Wire.

## Beer

Swan Brewing operates a 15-barrel Alpha Direct Fire brewhouse with multiple unitanks and pilot tanks. The taproom pours 30 rotating taps of house-brewed craft beer: IPAs, stouts, sours, pilsners, lagers, and seasonal releases. Wine, cider, and non-alcoholic options are also available. Swan beers are distributed throughout Central Florida by Bernie Little Distributors (863.665.3615, bernielittledistributors.com).

## History

Swan Brewing began in 2014 as a homebrewing supply stall at Lakeland's Saturday farmers market. The taproom opened April 20, 2018. The building has been in continuous use since the mid-1940s. Lake Wire, visible from the patio, is where units of the Buffalo Soldiers camped in 1898 before shipping to Cuba in the Spanish-American War. A historical marker on the north shore of the lake commemorates this.

## Events & Community

Swan Brewing hosts live music, trivia nights, music bingo, community mixers, open mic nights, the Lakeland Punk Rock Flea Market, Swantoberfest, pop-up vendor markets, and run club meetups (Lakeland Runners Club, lakelandrunnersclub.org). There is always something going on at Swan Brewing.
